Starting in May 2017, Archer School for Girls will be hiring flagmen to stop Sunset Boulevard traffic for its heavy construction vehicles, to allow the big rigs in and out of its huge construction site.
The flagmen’s task will be massive. Their one and only job will be to stop traffic in both directions on Sunset Boulevard for the purpose of facilitating Archer’s colossal construction project – six days a week for three years.
On some of the busiest construction days, Archer will add hundreds of construction vehicle trips to the existing traffic nightmare on Sunset. Archer’s data shows that there will be at least one heavy truck leaving the construction site every minute and requiring flagmen to stop other vehicles commuting on Sunset Blvd.
Those flagmen will be on the job to stop you on your way home, or to work so that Archer construction trucks can execute their wide turns onto Sunset Blvd. We recommend that you prepare yourself for extended delays, but you’ll have the excuse that you can blame Mike Bonin for being late.
What can you do to stop it? Contact Councilmember Mike Bonin and let him know what you think.
